Ninja man

The police are now investigating an incident in which popular dancehall artiste, Desmond "Ninja Man" Ballentine, was seriously injured by a prisoner at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre, in Kingston.

Ninja Man, who is now awaiting trial for murder, was injured two weeks ago, at the remand facility.

The accused, Kevin Maitland, has been charged with unlawful wounding.

It's reported that on August 3, Ninja Man was walking to his cell, when he was attacked by Maitland.

He was reportedly "knocked unconscious" when Maitland hit him in the head with a stone concealed in a sock.

The matter was mentioned before the Corporate Area Criminal Court, Thursday.

Maitland and Ninja Man are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Ninja Man has been in custody since 2009, accused of murder.

The 45-year-old entertainer and his 20 year old son, Janiel Ballentine, along with Clayton Dennis and Seymour Samuels, are charged with the murder of 20-year-old Ricardo Johnson, a resident of Olympic Gardens, in St Andrew.

Mr Johnson was killed in a drive-by shooting on March 16, 2009
